Location: Spanish Lake, BC, is located in Cariboo region of British Columbia, Canada, 134 km (83 mi) northeast of Williams Lk. Travel 25 km (15.5 mi) south from Williams Lake on Hwy 97 to 150 Mile House. Turn east off Hwy 97 onto the Horsefly Road. A few miles later, turn left onto the Likely Road and drive approx 80 km (50 mi) to the town of Likely. Continue for another 2.41 km (1.5 mi) on the road towards Keithly Creek, then turn right. Travel about 6.44 km (4 miles). Watch for signs, turn left and continue for 2.4 km (1.5 mi). Spanish Lake is accessible to cars and trucks. Car top boats can be launched. Access to Spanish Lake is steep and winding. Nearest supplies and services can found at Likely. Fishing Report: Spanish Lake produces good quantities of wild rainbows and Dolly Varden to 2 lbs from June through October. Flyfishing, spinning and trolling all produce good results. Viewscape: Spanish Lake is a very picturesque lake surrounded by hilly, forested countryside consisting of Douglas Fir, spruce and cedar. Hills give way to mountains in the background. Shoreline: Gravel or sandy beaches surround the lake. Nearby Lakes Benny, Freshette and Annette - These 3 lakes can be found about 2 km (1.2 mi) past Spanish Lake off of the same gravel road. All three are walk-in lakes with trails connecting them together. Watch for trail markings. These lakes contain large rainbows, 8 lbs or better. Fly fishing or spin casting produce good action. These lakes receive very little angling pressure and it would be well worth your while to explore them. Note: Always check your current BC Fishing regulations before you start fishing a new lake.
