This
cozy community tucked into the mountains and trees of the
Monashee Mountain Range is literally surrounded by world-class
recreation. Home of Olympic skiers Nancy Greene Raine and
Kerrin Lee-Gartner.
In winter, Red Mountain's steep slopes and deep snow thrill
powderhounds from around the world. The nordic trails are
also in great demand. In summer, mountain bikers and hikers
enjoy over one hundred kilometers of trails radiating from
the city center. Rossland has hosted both the North American
and Canadian Mountain Bike Championships.
Self-guided
walking tour takes visitors past many fine heritage
buildings. There's also an underground gold mine tour,
two museums displaying the details of one of the world's richest
gold strikes, and a light opera production based on Rossland's
colourful history.
Downtown
visitors can browse the local galleries, artist studios, shops
& boutiques.
