The
Kamloops and Shuswap region offers some of the
best off-road cycling in British Columbia. Kamloops
offers a lot of diversity for riders, from desert-like
singletrack to high speed alpine down hill riding.
One of the most popular and accessible areas,
is Mount Dufferin, located just west of city
centre. Away from the city, you'll find mountain
biking at Stake Lake, Inks Lake, Bush Lake,
and Greenstone Mountain.
From Kamloops head east on the Trans Canada
Highway # 1 into the Shuswap region and Salmon
Arm. Before you reach Salmon Arm there are two
courses you should investigate, they are Bastion
Mountain and Rubberhead. The Mount Ida trail
which can be reached from city centre is for
advanced riders where the view of the Shuswap
is unsurpassed. Other trails are Prudential
and Little Mountain.
Revelstoke, on the Trans Canada Highway east
of Salmon Arm, is a quiet town surrounded by
mountains, awesome scenery and one of the best
biking areas in the province. It's the Keystone
Standard Basin Trail, which is physically and
technically difficult and only for the strong
of heart and limbs. Be safe, have fun!
