ECOTOURS-BC
Grizzly Bear Watching, Gold Rush, and Natural History
Ecotours-BC is situated in the heart of one of the most unique
and diverse areas on earth
the Quesnel Lake watershed
near Likely just a short drive from Williams Lake, on the
western slopes of the Cariboo Mountains of British Columbia.
Experience it first-hand with the guides of Ecotours-BC. Whether
you come for the sheer joy of observing life in this unique
ecosystem of BC, are a novice, amateur naturalist or a research
expert, you will find much to challenge your interests.
Observe the "cycle of life" as the glacial waters
of the Mitchell River run red with returning sockeye salmon.
This river in the Quesnel Lake watershed is one of the major
salmon producing rivers in the province, and is shared by
resident trout and the salmon. You'll also explore the rich
Mitchell River wetlands where plant and animal life abounds
in a rare temperate interior rain forest. Stand beside 1000
year old Western Red Cedar and get an insight into the diversity
of an old growth forest. The wetlands provide habitat for
numerous bird species including ducks, geese, trumpeter swans,
blue heron, eagles along with foraging moose, grizzly bears
and other animal life.
Go from extraordinary wetlands, through ancient forests with
thousand year old trees, to the majestic alpine of the Cariboo
Mountains all in one adventure. Visit the rich wetlands of
the Mitchell River and observe waterfowl and wildlife in this
unique ecosystem. Observe the life styles and antics of mountain
grizzly, mountain goats, caribou, mule deer, wolf and black
bear, birds, and small animals
and visit a 10,000 year
old glacier from the last ice age. The sheer enjoyment of
learning about the native flora and fauna is a memorable experience
bringing you closer to the wild side of nature and life.
The crisp cool mornings and warm sunlit days of Autumn brings
you to the shore of a secluded lake. The sun rises over snowcapped
mountain peaks with yellows, oranges and reds mixed in the
shades of green of the surrounding forests. The forest surround
Quesnel Lake in the Cariboo comes alive with the sounds of
nature and woodland life, and the smells of the damp forest
fill your senses with the simplicity of life far removed from
the hectic pace of cities. Watch and photograph native wildlife
as you hike in the alpine, through ancient forests where the
changing of the season showers the earth with brilliant colors,
and visit the mountain valleys ablaze with the splendor and
beauty of the fall colors and tumbling waterfalls.
Our
