Finger
Lake Wilderness Resort is located 75 km (45 miles) south of Vanderhoof,
British Columbia is only a two hour drive from Prince George Airport.
The resort is the only access to the water. Finger Lake is 9 km long
and 2 km wide (5.6 x 1.5 miles), 877 hectares in size, with several
islands and bays to explore. Once at the resort, the hustle and bustle
of the world will be just a distant memory.
A boat
and motor is recommended to fully appreciate this pristine BC wilderness.
Where as many as 10 mule deer sightings have been spotted during
a week-end of fishing. The shoreline has many swampy bays where
you can spot moose foraging for tender lily pads. Even though the
lake is 877 hectares, you are never far from a shoreline because
of the four islands that split the center, yielding shelter from
the breeze and more shoals to fish for the big one.
Fishing
Finger Lake offers excellent fly fishing for BC rainbow trout and
Kokanee. Make Finger Lake Wilderness Resort your base camp and try
one of several nearby trophy lakes (Lavoie, Hobson, Chief Grey and
Rum Cache).
