Jandana Ranch
Pinantan Lake, Kamloops, British Columbia
Horseback Riding British Columbias Interior High Country, in
the
Thompson Okanagan is an unforgettable experience.
Jandana Ranch is a family owned horse ranch nestled in the mountains 30 minutes
northeast of Kamloops at beautiful Pinantan Lake in British Columbias
central interior. We pride ourselves in offering affordable, peaceful
guest ranch vacations for individuals, couples and families. Our 500
acre facility overlooks beautiful Pinantan Lake and the vistas beyond.
Your hosts Janice and Dave Jarvis have over 45 horses here living
in a natural setting and roaming the hills in herds. Coyotes and deer
are frequently seen as they live in harmony with our horses here in
the Thompson Okanagan region.
At
Jandana Ranch we practice Natural Horsemanship following the model
as set out by Pat Parelli. With this philosophy people can learn the
language of the horse and how to use it. We need to be effective both
on the ground and on the horse's back in order to prevent the communication
problems, fear, injury, and frustration so prevalent in the horse
world today. Horseback riding at Jandana is designed to incorporate
the features of open meadow riding, hills, forested areas, and scenic
viewpoints for your enjoyment. At Jandana Ranch you can enjoy horseback
riding during all four 4 seasons so depending on when you visit you
may enjoy British Columbias fragrant spring flowers, or pick
wild raspberries, strawberries or Saskatoons in summer, ride
in the brilliant fall colours or the powdery snows of winter. Regardless
of the season there is always something to see on the trail rides.
Maybe you'll spot your first moose or have the silence broken by the
hooting of an owl. It's all out there to enjoy in BCs Thompson Okanagan.
We
have a play area for the little tykes as well as volleyball, horseshoes
and a fire pit for evening entertainment. Swimming and fishing for world famous Kamloops rainbow trout in
our nearby lakes, hiking, birding and photography all can be enjoyed.
Wildlife is abundant with coyotes calling at night, loons, sandhill
cranes, many species of predatory birds, deer, moose and yes, we have
black bears. You may be very lucky to see one on one of your trail
rides. Sorry, there is no hunting. Our guest ranch is home to these
animals. In the winter riding is still available as well as ice-fishing
and cross-country skiing.
As
a guest, youll be invited to join in the daily operation of
the ranch and encouraged to take part in the grooming and saddling
of your horse. Guests are welcome to mingle with the people who keep
horses with us and observe any horsemanship which may be going on.
Questions are always welcome! Hang out with the Jandana gang, coffee
is always on!
Our
cabins are fully self-contained, sleep five, and each cabin has it's
own private porch to provide a great place to enjoy your morning coffee,
while taking in the view of Pinantan Lake and the surrounding valley.
We also have limited RV space -- Reservations are a must for these.
A
cozy cabin with all of the comforts of home, great atmosphere, at
one of BC's friendliest guest ranches - what could be better!
