Location: Burns Lake is located on Hwy. #16 approximately 80 km. (50 mi.) east of the town of Houston.

Size 1180.4 ha. (2915.6 ac.) Shoal 459.6 ha. (1135.2 ac.)
Mean Depth 9 m. (29.5 ft.) Max. Depth 40 m. (131.2 ft.)
Game Fish Rainbow Trout & Lake Char Fish Stocked None
Angler Usage Low Elevation 701 m. (2299 ft.)
Ice Over November to Early April T.D.S. 90 mg/L.

Fishing Report: Excellent fishing for Lake Char up to 25+ lbs. and Rainbows to 2-1/2 lbs. Trolling with various lures is the method used most successfully on Burns. Fishing is considered good throughout the open water season, but is best in the spring. Ice fishing, during the winter is very popular. Burns Lake is an ideal vacation spot in the heart of the lakes district which features over 4,800 km. (3,000 mi.) of shoreline and fabulous fishing. The possibilties are unlimited.

Nearby Lakes

Decker Lake - Decker is a large lake of 1122.5 ha. (2772.6 ac.) with a shoal area of 236.7 ha. (584.7 ac.). Maximum depth of the lake is 16 m. (52.5 ft.) and it lies at an elevation of 716 m. (2348.5 ft.). Decker can be found just south off Hwy. #16 a few miles to the west of Burns Lake. Rainbows to 3+ lbs., and Lake Char reaching over 20 lbs. make Decker well-worth visiting. All services and facilities can be found in the nearby town of Burns Lake.
